Regional Development Directorate

The Regional Development Directorate focuses on planning regional development and implementing national and European programmes; it is also active in the areas of entrepreneurship, cooperatives and economic democracy.

With a vision of realising regionalism in the given situation, it pursues the strategic goals set by the Promotion of Balanced Regional Development Act and designs the regional policy of the Government. It promotes the sustainable development of all regions, in the context of both development and cohesion, in the widest possible sense. In this way it activates the capacities of Slovenian regions and the measures of endogenous regional policy with an emphasis on the regional policy instruments in the disadvantaged border areas and disadvantaged areas with high unemployment.
