The Cohesion Directorate brings together sectors that lead and efficiently and regularly manage European funding resources, which are one of the key policy tools for promoting Slovenia's development goals. Taking into account the available resources, the complexity of the implementation system, and the execution structure within the given timeframes of programming periods, they transparently and systematically contribute to strengthening economic, social, and territorial cohesion in Slovenia, as well as in cross-border cooperation, international, and transnational networks and connections.

The Cohesion Directorate serves as the Managing Authority for the Investment for Growth and Jobs Goal, the Managing Authority for three Interreg cross-border programs, and the coordinator for various tasks under the European Territorial Cooperation Goal, while also managing financial mechanisms (the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, the EEA Grants, and the Swiss Contribution).

Managing programs that bring European funds to the Republic of Slovenia is a strategic development task and an active process. The implementation system, as a tool for achieving the set objectives, is adaptable to all circumstances, responsive, and long-term focused. The framework for this system is defined by a transparent legal basis, adequate administrative capacity, and proactive, targeted leadership. The Cohesion Directorate's motto is: "Every European project was a guest in our house."
