The Labour Market and Employment Directorate is responsible for employment policy at home and abroad, unemployment insurance, active employment policy programmes, enforcement of occupational standards, certification systems, free movement of workers. One of the Directorate’s priorities is to pursue the objectives of labour market development and employment policy development based on the European employment strategy.

Each year, priorities are defined on the basis of the performed analyses, with a view to addressing the most pressing problems associated with employment. Active employment policy programmes are the key instrument in reducing unemployment.
