Security and Security Planning Service
The Service is responsible for:
- monitoring the security situation, coordinating the implementation of security measures, ensuring uniform security standards in the operations of judicial bodies, and monitoring and analysing security incidents at the Ministry and judicial bodies;
- preparing, reviewing and approving threat assessments and security plans for judicial bodies;
- preparing plans outlining security system requirements for judicial bodies and participating in the procurement of technical security equipment;
- providing security training for judicial bodies and the Ministry;
- providing training on the protection of classified information for the Ministry;
- performing tasks relating to defence and security planning, civil protection and disaster relief, and fire safety at the Ministry, including participation in exercises and the preparation of civil protection and disaster relief plans;
- carrying out internal oversight and other professional tasks relating to the handling and protection of classified information;
- performing tasks in procedures for obtaining security clearances for access to classified information, maintaining records of security clearance holders and persons authorised to assign classification levels at the Ministry, and performing other tasks relating to classified information at the Ministry;
- developing comprehensive security solutions;
- maintaining an up-to-date risk register;
- drafting internal regulations within the Service’s remit;
- preparing opinions on draft laws and implementing regulations proposed by other ministries insofar as they concern the Service’s remit, as part of interministerial coordination;
- preparing other documents, opinions, positions and responses within the Service’s remit, including responses to parliamentary questions, media enquiries and questions from members of the public, as well as opinions and responses concerning documents, requests and proposals submitted by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, the Human Rights Ombudsman, the Information Commissioner, the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption and other bodies;
- cooperating with the State Attorney’s Office of the Republic of Slovenia on claims against the State where the allegations concern matters within the Service’s remit;
- participating in working groups in areas within the Service’s remit;
- performing other tasks within the Service’s remit.
