The Service is responsible for comprehensive, strategic and coordinated communication with national and foreign audiences on Slovenian foreign policy, as well as for managing relations.

Our activities aim to strengthen Slovenia’s reputation and visibility, along with that of our foreign policy, diplomacy and our positions, initiatives and projects in an international context. In addition to daily reporting on events and activities related to the Republic of Slovenia's foreign policy, political and other forms of relations with foreign countries and international cooperation, the Service's engagement is further complemented and enhanced by public diplomacy activities, both thematic and project-based.

The Service monitors and analyses domestic and foreign public and media reports on foreign policy activities of the Republic of Slovenia and conducts communication activities aligned with the country's foreign policy objectives. Working closely with relevant sectors and services at home and abroad (diplomatic missions and consular posts), the Service plans, coordinates, prepares and manages Slovenia's digital diplomacy efforts, including providing comprehensive management of the Slovenian diplomatic online and social media presence.

Together with the relevant ministry services and sectors, diplomatic missions and consular posts and other government departments and institutions of the Republic of Slovenia, the Public Diplomacy Department focuses on presenting various topics and content related to the Republic of Slovenia's foreign policy to foreign audiences in a structured, coordinated and continuous manner. Operating under the national brand I Feel Slovenia, the Department ensures its consistent use across various promotional areas. It prepares, coordinates and implements communication and promotional activities for foreign audiences on important days and events, within the framework of priority projects and campaigns of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MFEA) and major promotional projects at the government or state level. The department also helps organise MFEA events in Slovenia attracting foreign audiences (Bled Strategic Forum, Africa Day, Latin America and Caribbean Days, Slovenian Development Days).

The Service also ensures strategic coherence of foreign policy messaging at all levels, be it the minister and other leadership roles or the ministry as a whole, through speeches, contributions to publications and expert papers. The Service participates in the drafting of EU policies in the field of strategic communication and public diplomacy, and is also responsible for fostering and facilitating dialogue and relations with civil society representatives and individuals.

Through a range of carefully planned and complementary activities, the Service works to raise the profile of the Republic of Slovenia and its positions and promote the country's soft power around the world.
