Andrej Štesl
Andrej Štesl, born in 1972, graduated from the Faculty of Theology in Ljubljana in 2000, obtaining a university degree in theology.
After completing his studies, he worked in institutions of the Archdiocese of Maribor from 1999 to 2009. In 2008, he headed Slomškova družba d.o.o., and in 2009 became Director of the Karitas Institute for Care, Nursing and Social Services (Karion Institute) in Slovenske Konjice. He led the institute until his appointment as State Secretary at the Ministry for Demography, Family and Social Affairs.
Throughout his professional career, he has gained extensive experience in organisational leadership, the management of social care institutions, and the development and implementation of social welfare programmes. He has developed particular expertise in social welfare, long-term care, and the provision of high-quality services for the elderly and other vulnerable population groups.
He has also actively participated in various governing bodies and professional associations. Among other roles, he served as a member of the Board of Archdiocesan Caritas Maribor, a member of the Board of Caritas Slovenia, Chair of the Board of the Čebela – Caritas Day Care Centre, and a member of the Executive Board of the Association of Social Institutions of Slovenia as a representative of concession holders. For the past three years, he served as President of the Association of Directors – Members of the Association of Social Institutions of Slovenia.
