The Probation Administration is a body within the Ministry of Justice. Probation in its broadest sense means that a sentence is served in the community instead of in prison. A sentenced person on probation remains in the environment where he or she lives and works and serves his or her sentence by performing certain duties. Through probation we attempt to help all offenders get back on track.

We provide assistance and protective supervision to persons on probation so that they will not commit other criminal offences and will be fully integrated into the community. Our aim is to make our society safer and more secure. Our staff is composed of experienced experts in social work, social education, psychology, law, criminal justice and security, and other fields. The Probation Administration’s objective is to reduce the number of repeat offenders and provide a more humane and effective treatment of criminal offenders. Our mission also includes reducing the prison population and significantly contributing to a more secure society.
