The Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Youth (URSM) promotes the interests of young people and the youth sector, acting as the central coordinator of youth policy and ensuring comprehensive measures to improve the situation of young people in Slovenia. In cooperation with ministries, state authorities, municipalities, and civil society organisations, the Office monitors the status of young people and evaluates the impact of policies and programmes on their lives, with the aim of systematically including youth perspectives in decision-making processes.

Operating since 1991, the Office is part of the Ministry of Education and functions as the national authority in the field of youth. It develops and implements youth policies, provides financial support for youth organisations and programmes, strengthens the quality of youth work, and promotes research and knowledge in the field of youth.

At the international level, the Office is actively engaged in EU structures, the Council of Europe, and other relevant organisations, ensuring that Slovenian youth policy is connected with European and global developments.

Slovenia’s youth policy is dynamic and comprehensive, addressing key challenges and opportunities for young people. The Office pays particular attention to areas such as employment and entrepreneurship, digitalisation, mental health, social inclusion, sustainable development, and active citizenship. Special emphasis is given to promoting structured dialogue with young people, supporting youth organisations, and creating opportunities for youth participation at local, national, and international levels.
