Slovenia Weekly: The final piece of the puzzle

The Government has approved the investment programme for the construction of an additional track on the new Koper–Divača railway line. The investment programme for the parallel additional track represents a continuation of the second-track project and an important step towards establishing a fully double-track railway line. By approving the investment programme for the additional track on the new Koper–Divača railway line, the caretaker government has added the final piece of the puzzle to the Divača–Koper double-track railway line project. Once completed, the project will increase the line’s capacity to approximately 252 trains per day, thereby significantly improving the competitiveness of the Port of Koper, easing road traffic congestion and contributing to sustainable mobility.

This year, Europe Day will also be marked across the European Union through sport. On 9 May, Europe celebrates Europe Day – a day dedicated to peace, cooperation and respect for diversity. These are also the fundamental values of sport. As part of the Sport Celebrates Europe Day initiative, numerous sports and para-sports events will take place across Slovenia from 8 to 10 May, bringing people, local communities and European values together through physical activity.

To mark Europe Day, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia has highlighted Slovenia’s position among the populations of European Union member states. In fact, one in every 200 EU residents lives in Slovenia. In terms of life satisfaction, the level of social exclusion and food waste per capita, Slovenia ranked second among European Union member states.
