Slovenia Weekly: Space challenges

On Thursday, Robert Golob's government held its first meeting in the period during which it is only performing its regular duties. It adopted the Decree on the compulsory health insurance service programme, the capacities required for its implementation and the amount of funding for services for the current year. On the one hand, the decree introduces several programmes for providers with new equipment. On the other hand, it narrows down the list of programmes that will be paid based on realisation.

The Slovenian space sector has developed significantly over the past decade. In recent years, some Slovenian companies have taken a leading role in specific niche areas of the space sector, particularly in Earth observation, innovative technologies and advanced materials. All three Slovenian satellites – Nemo-HD, Trisat and Trisat-R – also demonstrate a great deal of innovation.

Slovenian companies in the space industry recently made a successful appearance at a joint stand during the 41st Colorado Springs Space Symposium. This visit is an important step in efforts to strengthen cooperation between Slovenia and the United States in the rapidly evolving global space sector.

This year will mark the best year for cycling in the country's history. It kicks off with the Tour of Slovenia, followed by the European Cycling Championships in the autumn. The Tour of Slovenia, which will connect 45 Slovenian and one Italian destination between 17 and 21 June and is covered in one of Slovenia Weekly's articles, is one of the most important platforms for the country’s global promotion. As in previous years, the cycling race will be broadcast on Eurosport in as many as 130 countries.
