Slovenia Weekly: Connectivity of our country, people, and the economy

The opening of the second tube of the Karavanke motorway tunnel is seen as one of Slovenia's most important infrastructure projects. The project is valuable not only for its infrastructure, but also for its investment in people's safety, economic competitiveness, and the long-term stability of cross-border links. By undertaking this project, Slovenia is once again demonstrating its ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver highly complex infrastructure projects that are strategically important for the country's and the region's transport connectivity. This is our most modern road tunnel and forms part of a key European transport corridor. The second tube of the Karavanke tunnel connects countries, people and economies.

Meanwhile, the conflict in the Middle East shows no signs of abating. To mitigate the increase in petroleum product prices in Slovenia, the Government will reduce duties further. This measure aims to soften the impact of the inevitable price hikes over the next 14 days due to the conflict in the Middle East. The Government is doing everything in its power to protect people from the harshest consequences of developments in the international market, while ensuring a stable, predictable, and transparent supply.

On Sunday, 22 March, voters will decide which parties will enter Parliament and which will remain outside it. Polling stations will be open across the country from 7 am to 7 pm. These elections to the National Assembly are the tenth to be held since Slovenia became an independent state. Just under 1.7 million eligible voters will determine the new composition of the 90-seat National Assembly.
