Slovenia Weekly: Feel Slovenia 2026

In this year's final government newsletter, Slovenia Weekly, we invite you to read, among other things, about the My Voice, My Choice initiative for safe and accessible abortion throughout the EU, which was upheld by the European Parliament last Wednesday. The citizens' initiative, launched by the 8th March Institute, was previously signed by as many as 1.1 million Europeans, which, according to the initiative coordinator, Nika Kovač, means that this is a victory for Slovenia and what Slovenia essentially stands for.

Slovenia has been ranked third on Lonely Planet's list of destinations to visit this December. The renowned travel portal Lonely Planet has published a list of the top 10 destinations to visit in December 2025. Slovenia ranked high in the list, coming third, and was voted the best destination for winter sports adventures. The authors of the list continue that the country really excels in multi-activity winter breaks: downhilling, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snow-hiking, ice-climbing, igloo-building and even night tobogganing.

The Slovenia House will soon showcase the country’s creativity, commitment to sustainability and openness at Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Games. The Slovenia House in Cortina is a strategic project placed at the very centre of Olympic events. It brings together sport, business, tourism, culture, science and sustainability under the I Feel Slovenia brand, presenting Slovenia as a small yet exceptionally creative, green, progressive and open country to the world. The Slovenia House will therefore become a small Slovenian Olympic embassy. A place where the world can not only see, but also feel Slovenia.
