“Sometimes we fail to fully appreciate our strategic position, but I am convinced that foreigners, especially those engaged in global logistics chains, are well aware of it. That is why it is all the more important that we know how to make effective use of our location,” said Prime Minister Robert Golob at the ceremonial event marking the completion of construction works on Section 2 of the Divača–Koper second track and the formal handover of an additional EUR 156 million in non-repayable EU funding.
Prime Minister Golob stated that this event marks the conclusion of an important phase of the Divača–Koper Second Track project and announced the construction of a parallel track, which, he said, is to begin in 2027 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2030. He highlighted the advantages of Slovenia’s strategic position, describing it as a “window to the world” for the entire Central European region.
The Divača–Koper second track is one of the most important infrastructure projects in Slovenia, through which the state aims to create new sustainable logistics links across Europe and to strengthen Slovenia’s competitiveness and geostrategic importance.
The Traditional Slovenian Breakfast, celebrated today, is the central event of Slovenian Food Week, which takes place during the third week of November. This year marks its fifteenth edition. The initiative promotes awareness of the importance of locally produced food and a healthy lifestyle through a traditional meal of bread, butter, honey, milk and apples of domestic origin.
