Prime Minister Robert Golob attended the informal meeting of EU Heads of State or Government and the European Political Community summit in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 1 and 2 October 2025. With the global situation becoming increasingly tense, the summit focused primarily on defence and security. The Prime Minister noted that, according to current security assessments, the threat level to Slovenia had not increased. "Slovenia is a safe country at the moment. However, we cannot say that it is safe from natural disasters. We stand in solidarity with the other European nations, and we expect them to show the same solidarity when we are the ones affected," he emphasised.
In Copenhagen, Prime Minister Golob also stated, with regard to the European Commission's proposals, that Slovenia supports the ban on imports of Russian energy products to Europe. "Slovenia stopped imports some time ago, so we naturally support Europe becoming fully independent of Russian energy supplies. Europe is founded not only on shared values, but also on joint action and unity, and it is strongest when we stand together," the Prime Minister emphasised.
