Slovenia Weekly: Steps in the right direction

Slovenia is taking steps in the right direction regarding the rule of law. This was confirmed by the findings of the European Commission's report, which has been reviewed by the Slovenian government. According to the report for 2025, Slovenia has made progress in virtually all areas covered and has progressed on all of last year's recommendations. "We are pleased with the positive progress regarding the rule of law", said Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon. She added that what Slovenia is doing in the world to protect democracy, human rights, and the rule of law is being implemented at home as well.

The ministerial team, led by Prime Minister Robert Golob, was on a working visit to southeastern Slovenia on Tuesday. They spoke with mayors and others about road and rail infrastructure, Roma issues, and the establishment of a public university based in Novo Mesto, among other things. They also opened the new Julija nursing hospital in Novo Mesto. Prime Minister Robert Golob said that the opening of the nursing hospital served as inspiration for the government's first regional visit, during which they focused on three topics: order and peace, the economy, and the public sector.
