Slovenia Weekly: Neighbours and partners within the EU

"This is one of the Government's largest projects and our duty to society, which we are obliged to fulfil," Prime Minister Robert Golob emphasised at a consultation on long-term care. The project involves municipalities, social work centres, homes for the elderly and the healthcare system. It is an extremely complex project that requires extensive coordination and cooperation among stakeholders. Long-term care is indeed one of the Government flagship projects.

This week's Government newsletter, Slovenia Weekly, also highlights two visits related to Slovenia's neighbouring countries. The Slovenian Prime Minister and the Italian President reaffirmed the strong and friendly bilateral relations, which are based on mutual respect and cooperation. They agreed that relations between Slovenia and Italy are an excellent example of neighbourly coexistence within the European Union. Slovenia's Foreign Minister, Tanja Fajon, and Carinthia's Governor, Peter Kaiser, attended a joint Slovenia-Carinthia committee meeting in Klagenfurt, where they expressed a shared position: "We are not just neighbours, but partners in our common region at the heart of Europe."
