Slovenia's political leaders commemorate the atrocities of Srebrenica, thirty years on. A place that has become a symbol of one of the darkest chapters in modern European history. As written by Prime Minister Robert Golob, Slovenia pays tribute to the victims and remembers what we must not forget. We remember because we are committed to truth and justice, and because in this painful past we seek wisdom for a future in which such atrocities never happen again.
The European Commission's sixth annual report on the rule of law in the European Union and its Member States for 2025 confirms that over the past year Slovenia has made significant progress across all key areas. The European Commission assessed that the majority of recommendations made in the previous report have already been implemented or are in the final stage of implementation. Slovenia will continue to actively build an open, democratic and inclusive legal order based on respect for the rule of law, human rights and the independence of institutions, and will strive to ensure that the fundamental values of the European Union are respected.
