Slovenia Weekly: Shaping the future together

At the ceremony marking the raising of Slovenian flag in front of CERN building in Geneva, the Prime Minister said that CERN represents the best Europe and humanity can achieve. According to him, Slovenia joined CERN to shape the future in which science is a promise of peace. It is willing to make a significant contribution. On 21 June 2025, Slovenia officially became the 25th full member of CERN and thus a co-owner of one of the most important scientific research infrastructures in the world. It successfully concluded years of procedures for full membership, which is an outstanding recognition for Slovenian science and researchers. The membership provides Slovenian researchers with an opportunity to research and work at CERN and the enterprise sector with business opportunities. Furthermore, full membership reaffirms and strengthens Slovenia’s reputation as a nation building its future on knowledge and science.
