Slovenia Weekly: For greater resilience

At its session, the Slovenian Government was briefed on the current defense and security policy. The new defense and security policy focuses on strengthening broader social security, enhancing the resilience of society as a whole, and improving Slovenia's defense capabilities, for which 2% of GDP will be allocated in 2025. The financial plan includes a gradual increase in defense spending, starting at 2% of GDP in 2025 and continuing to rise to 3% by 2030.

Effectivelly and responsibly tackling increasingly complex security risks requires more than just a reactive approach – it demands a long-term vision, coordinated action from all national security subsystems, and a clear understanding that security is the foundation of freedom.

The Slovenian Government, led by Prime Minister Robert Golob, is aware of its responsibility to all citizens – not only to protect their lives and property but also to uphold peace, democratic values, and the dignity of every individual. At the same time, Slovenia remains dedicated to its role in the broader European and international community, including fulfilling its obligations within the NATO alliance.
