Slovenia Weekly: Aid for competitiveness

"The aid package adopted is one of the most comprehensive in Slovenia's history, covering all sectors of the economy and all sizes of companies, from small to medium-sized and large.  The aid is targeted at those companies that will really need it, and we are also prepared in case the economic situation deteriorates and some companies have to temporarily adjust their production," said Minister of the Economy Matjaž Han on the occasion of the adoption of the proposed act on aid to the economy to mitigate the consequences of the energy crisis.  The total amount of possible aid under all measures is estimated at 1.2 billion euros.

Slovenia ranked ninth out of 180 countries in the Global Sustainable Competitiveness Index, which is compiled by the Swiss-Korean think-tank Solability. It scored best in the area of economic sustainability, where it was ranked first, and in the area of social capital, where it was ranked fourth.

This year's International Human Rights Day, which is observed every year on 10 December, focuses on dignity, freedom and justice for all.  Slovenia will always support the protection of and respect for human rights around the world, the elimination of human rights violations, the fight against impunity for human rights violations and the fight to ensure accountability for these violations. Slovenia is also a candidate for membership of the UN Human Rights Council, the central inter-governmental body on this issue within the UN, for the period 2026–2028.
