Slovenia Weekly: Together. Resilient. Europe.

With yesterday's meeting between the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the European Commission, Slovenia will take over the presidency of the Council of the European Union for six months for the second time. Slovenia is the last to take over the presidency in the trio with Germany and Portugal.

The world in which Slovenia takes over the presidency of the Council of the EU on 1 July has changed considerably from 2008. What remains unchanged are the European values as the basis for mutual cooperation and the understanding of common challenges. Slovenia will focus on strengthening these priorities over the next six months.

It is not only the success of the Slovenian Presidency that depends on the joint efforts of the member states and European institutions, but, above all, the future of Europe and how it will be prepared for the challenges ahead.
