Slovenia Weekly: One step at a time

Slovenia has begun relaxing its COVID-19 measures, which includes a partial opening of schools and opening of certain service and commercial activities in the regions which meet the conditions for the relaxation. What is encouraging is not only the decreasing daily number of infected cases, but the falling trend, and every single one of us can contribute to this by adhering to the measures set.

As regards the situation at the national level, we have moved from the black to the red tier by about half a step. This change to the red tier is not so large as to enable us to feel any great joy, but still progress has been made which will allow for some relaxation of measures, with these optimistic trends expected to continue for the next seven days, noted the Prime Minister, commenting on the latest news about the relaxation of measures.

Things are developing in the right way. Especially in combination with the increased inflow of vaccines, with new supplies expected to arrive next Monday. The next goal we need to achieve is the orange phase, in which the seven-day average of infected cases and number of people in hospitals are both below one thousand. Moving into all the subsequent phases will make our lives significantly easier. We have not won the war against the virus yet, but we may have finally won a battle after a long time.
