Slovenia Weekly: Culture and Science

3 December is a culture day, the day when France Prešeren was born. Cultural institutions usually fling their doors wide open on this occasion. Not this year, unfortunately, due to the epidemic. However, Slovenians will not be deprived of Prešeren. This culture day will be moved to the virtual environment. Cultural institutions which have organised events free of charge in previous years, will offer some of their content online.

By signing the agreement, Slovenia joined the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment Program (GLOBE). The program is supported by the American space agency, NASA, and will be managed in Slovenia by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport. The program allows hobby scientists and students to help scientists to collect data for a better understanding of the environment. By joining the GLOBE program, we are strengthening important values: curiosity, environmental awareness, and bringing science closer. But what is most important is that we are strengthening the value of cooperation. We are providing the opportunity for young people to cooperate, and are developing close scientific cooperation between Slovenia and the USA, said the Minister for Education, Science and Sport, and added that Slovenia and the USA have already had some scientific achievements.
