With its sixth anti-corona package, Slovenia intends to maintain the capacities and good condition of society, the state, and the economy, even after the epidemic. With the measures contained within, the government has completely listened to the economy. Prime Minister Janez Janša emphasised that the government covered almost all the citizens with its packages, and the majority of the funds were intended to preserve jobs.
The proposal for the sixth anti-corona law stretches to various areas, and similarly to the previous five packages, focuses on preserving jobs and keeping the economy functioning. The measures are believed to be worth one billion euros. Most of these funds will be allocated to subsidies for lay-offs, which is to be extended until the end of January 2021, and to the partial coverage of the fixed costs of companies, which is one of the novelties of this law.
Prime Minister Janez Janša also announced the seventh anti-corona package, “with which we will try to focus our attention on the times when we believe the epidemic will be over”. The package aims to be effective after the new year, when, so Prime Minister Janez Janša believes, the epidemic period shall come to an end with an efficient vaccination. The package will mitigate the issues which occurred in the second wave.
