Slovenia Weekly: Slovenia – A factory of sporting miracles

After so many exceptionnal basketball, handball and volleball players, Slovenia now also has the youngest winner of the Tour de France since 1904! When one might already think we had used up all our sporting miracles and that the Slovenian sports factory had reached its limit, a new miracle appeared, at least for the next few years. His name is Tadej Pogačar and last weekend he became the youngest winner of the Tour de France in the last 116 years. The greatest bicycle race of all time. The Wimbledon of bicycle races. It was one of the most magical developments in the 117-year history of the race when the young Slovenian managed to pull off a miracle.

Slovenia is a sporting giant and has sport written in its DNA! This week, we marked a national holiday of Slovenian sport and joined seven countries that already celebrate a national holiday of sport. We are one of the first European countries with such a holiday. This was also the week when the President of the Olympics Committee visited Slovenia. During the discussions, the Government expressed active support for sport and underlined the preparation of measures to promote investment in sport by companies and individuals. This crisis has demonstrated that sport can also be part of the solution.
