Slovenia Weekly: A yellow dream about to come true

The vision of Europe leading the way from the fragility exposed by the new coronavirus was presented this week in the European Parliament. As expected, the focus of attention was on the fight against the pandemic, the green and digital transition, and migration issues.  Slovenia welcomes the priorities, stressing that Europe must emerge from the pandemic stronger and with new vitality.  In this context, Slovenia has high expectations of the European Commission’s activities and supports its decision to prioritise security, stability and opportunities for all the citizens of the European Union.

Slovenia in particular welcomes the emphasis placed by the Commission on health, the environment, economic recovery after the pandemic, a more resilient and sovereign European Union, and the announced presentation of an economic recovery package for the Western Balkans. Furthermore, the issues highlighted by the President of the European Commission in her State of the Union address are in line with the envisaged priorities of the Slovenian EU Council Presidency in 2021, for which the Slovenian Government has been intensively preparing.

The Slovenian flag is flying in the French Alps as Slovenians are racing towards victory at the most prestigious competition for cyclists. The foreign media are using only superlatives to describe the great achievements of the Slovenian cyclists. Slovenians are now closer than ever before to making their yellow dream come true in Paris.
