mag. Marko Štucin

Ambassador Marko Štucin was born on May 28, 1980, in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Marko Štucin graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Ljubljana in 2006 and joined the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia the same year. Since then, he has held various diplomatic and senior positions.
From 2022 to 2025, he served as State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs. During this period, he was also a member of the EU General Affairs Council and Chairman of the Board of the Centre for European Perspective (CEP).
Štucin began his diplomatic career in the EU Department, where from 2006 to 2009 he was responsible for coordinating Slovenia’s positions for European Council meetings. From 2013 to 2015, he worked in the Office of the Director-General for Bilateral and EU Affairs.
He served at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Berlin (2009–2013) and at the Embassy in The Hague (2015–2022). While stationed in The Hague, he was also a member of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
He speaks Slovene, English, German, and Croatian fluently.
He has one son.
