Ambassador Dr Ana Polak Petrič – Slovenia's candidate for the International Law Commission 2028–2032

Slovenia has consistently demonstrated its strong commitment to the codification and progressive development of international law, recognizing it as a cornerstone of a rules-based international order. As a firm supporter of the work of the International Law Commission (ILC), Slovenia is honoured to present an outstanding candidate for the membership of the ILC for the term 2028-2032 – Ambassador Dr Ana Polak Petrič.

Ambassador Dr Ana Polak Petrič is a distinguished diplomat and legal scholar with extensive experience in international law, diplomacy, and multilateral engagement. She has played a key role in the negotiation, interpretation, litigation and implementation of international legal instruments, and has represented the Republic of Slovenia with distinction in numerous international legal forums, including the United Nations, the Council of Europe and the European Union. She has extensive practical experience of applying international law in bilateral and multilateral contexts and of resolving disputes peacefully.

 In addition to her public service, Ambassador Dr Polak Petrič has contributed to the development of international law through her academic teaching and publications, as well as her participation in expert panels. Her scholarship reflects a commitment to the principles of the rule of law, legal certainty and the progressive development and codification of international law—objectives that align closely with the ILC's mandate.

 With her impressive combination of legal, diplomatic and academic credentials, she is an excellent candidate for membership of the ILC.
