State Attorneys Office

The State Attorneys Office is responsible for the protection of property rights and other rights and interests of the Republic of Slovenia in proceedings before courts and administrative authorities in the Republic of Slovenia, before foreign courts and in foreign arbitration, and before international courts and in international arbitration. In addition to providing legal representation, it also provides legal advice and performs tasks related to the peaceful settlement of disputes and other tasks provided by law.

The State Attorneys Office is independent and autonomous in the performance of its tasks; its work is supervised by the Ministry of Justice.

The State Attorneys Office is headed by the State Attorney General, who is appointed by the Government on the proposal of the Minister of Justice. The State Attorney-General is appointed for a period of six years and may be reappointed.
