Secretary-General Cvelbar Bek concludes her visit to Vietnam with the opening of a consulate
Secretary-General Renata Cvelbar Bek and Ambassador Alenka Suhadolnik opened the Slovenian Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City. The Secretary-General also met with Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong and Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Municipal People's Committee Nguyen Van Dung.

Increase of Schengen visa fees
The European Commission adopted a decision to increase short stay Schengen visa (visa type C) fees worldwide by 12 per cent. The increase will apply worldwide as of 11 June 2024.

China visit concludes with discussions on climate crisis
The visit of Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon to China concluded with a round table discussion in Beijing, jointly organised by the Bled Strategic Forum and the Chinese think tank, Center for China & Globalization. During the discussion, the participants agreed that effective multilateralism and respect for international law are key to successfully tackling the challenges posed by climate change.

Slovenian diplomacy facilitates entry into the Chinese market
Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon opened the Slovenia–China Business Forum in Shanghai. Accompanied by a 71-member business delegation, she continues her search for opportunities in the Chinese market. More than 100 Chinese companies took part in the Forum. Minister Fajon also met with Mayor of Shanghai Gong Zeng and opened the exhibition 'Plečnik's Ljubljana'.

Global challenges require constructive cooperation between Slovenia and China
Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon concludes the political part of her visit to China after meeting with Vice Minister and Deputy China International Trade Representative Ling Ji. She is accompanied by a large economic delegation, so the final leg of her Asia tour will focus on economic diplomacy.

Traditional friendly relations a good basis for Slovenian-Chinese cooperation in the UN Security Council
Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon has begun an official visit to China. She is first stopping in Beijing and later in Shanghai. The four-day visit will focus on political dialogue, both bilateral and in the UN Security Council, strengthening economic cooperation and showcasing Slovenia's cultural diplomacy.

Minister Tanja Fajon attended the EU-Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum and the EU-ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in Brussels. In her remarks, she underlined Slovenia's commitment to strengthening EU cooperation with Indo-Pacific and Southeast Asian countries, given their great economic and geostrategic importance.

Minister Fajon at the Security Council on the situation in the Middle East: 'A lasting ceasefire in Gaza is urgent'
Minister Tanja Fajon made her first appearance at the UN Security Council meeting on the situation in the Middle East in New York. On behalf of Slovenia, which will become a non-permanent member of the Security Council on 1 January 2024, she called for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza, a halt to violence, the protection of civilians, and urged the Security Council to step up its efforts to establish a lasting and just peace in the region.

The visit of the Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam
From 21 to 22 May the Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon payed a visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. In the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Fajon met with her host, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Prime Minister Phan Minh Chinh and Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien.

Europe day in Ulaanbaatar
On 14 May 2023, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia, together with the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Slovenia in Ulaan Baatar, Dr. Bolormaa Batbayar, set up a tent for Europe Day at the main Sukhbaatar square.

Beijing Conversations 3: "Asking 'What is contemporary Art Again?'"
On 12 March 2023 the conversation between the Slovenian curator and director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, Zdenka Badovinac, and the director of the Inside-out Museum in Beijing, Carol Yinghua Lu, took place online. The event was co-organized by the Embassy of Slovenia in Beijing and the Inside-out Art Museum in Beijing.

Beijing Conversations 2: "Rethinking Photography as a Medium in the Age of Uncertainties"
On 11 March 2023, in the conference room of the museum Inside-out in Beijing, the second of the Beijing Conversations took place, between Aleksandra Vajd, Slovenian photographer and professor of photography, and Zhou Dengyan, the photography historian on the topic of "Rethinking Photography as a Medium in the Age of Uncertainties."

Gorenje brand promotion in Qingdao
2 March 2023 Ambassador Suhadolnik participated at the Gorenje Brand promotion conference in Qingdao. Ambassador was accompanied by Mrs. Mira Lesjak, the head of the Slovenian consulate in Shanghai, and Mr. Jan Sitar, economic counsellor of the Slovenian Embassy in Beijing.

Meeting of the Slovenian Minister of Foreign affairs Tanja Fajon and the Mongolian Minister of Foreign Affairs Battsetseg Batmunkh during the 59th Munich Security Conference
On 18 February 2023 the Republic of Slovenia and Mongolia celebrated the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations countries maintain friendly relations and develop cooperation in bilateral and multilateral fields.

Slovenian State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Samuel Žbogar visit to China for political consultations
From January 17 to January 19, the Slovenian State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, Samuel Žbogar, was in China for political consultations. On January 18, the state secretary Žbogar visited MOFCOM and had a courtesy meeting with the Deputy Minister of Commerce Mr. Ling Ji. This was followed on January 19, 2023 by had political consultations between the Slovenian State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Žbogar and Deng Li, the Vice Foreign Minister in Beijing. The state secretary Žbogar also met with representatives of the Slovenian business community in Shanghai and Beijing.

The Launching of the new project "Beijing Conversations" of the Slovenian Embassy to China in collaboration with the Beijing Museum of Contemporary Art Inside-out
Starting from December 9, 2022 the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia Beijing has worked in collaboration with the Inside-Out Art Museum to organize the “Beijing Conversations” series.

Slovenian-Chinese poetry reading, "Poetry is the Salt of the World"
On 3 December, the Slovenian Embassy in Beijing organized the Slovenian-Chinese poetry reading, "Poetry is the Salt of the World". The event was organized in collaboration with the City Library Kranj, the Center for Slovene as a Second and Foreign Language of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana, Beijing Foreign Studies University and the Beijing restaurant Tian xia yan (The Lord of Salt).
