  • The Government takes note of the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan and approves the fourth amendment proposal

    Today, the Government took note of the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) and approved a proposal for its fourth amendment, which the Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Recovery and Resilience will submit, together with all supporting documents, to Brussels for formal consideration.

  • Construction of the new Faculty of Medicine in the final phase

    The construction of the new Vrazov trg Campus of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ljubljana is continuing successfully and approaching the final phase of construction works.   • European Commission gives preliminary positive assessment of fourth payment request

    The European Commission today gave a preliminary positive assessment to the fourth request for payment of funds under the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism. Slovenia is expected to receive payment of the request, amounting to just under EUR 440 million, before the end of this year.

  • Emergency medical assistance with an emergency doctor's vehicle: faster response and greater efficiency

    On 1 April 2024, the emergency medical assistance system in Slovenia underwent a significant upgrade. A new mobile unit – an emergency doctor's vehicle (EDV) – was introduced into field work. This change represents a major step towards more flexible, faster and professionally targeted intervention in emergency medical situations.

  • Four years of the Recovery and Resilience Plan

    The Council of the European Union approved the national recovery and resilience plans at the end of July 2021. The ministries responsible for implementing the reforms and investments in the plan have successfully carried out numerous activities to achieve this. Significant progress has been made this year on the most visible reform measures. The investments under the plan are being implemented by stakeholders in all Slovenian regions.

  • Minister Asta Vrečko officially opens renovated Rural Transport Museum

    On 4 July 2025, Minister of Culture Asta Vrečko officially opened the Rural Transport Museum in Senožeče. The renovation of the old toll house and Kotlar House cost EUR 2.9 million.

    At today's correspondence session of the Government, a proposed Act Amending the Health Care and Health Insurance Act (ZZVZZ) was adopted, representing one of the key legislative steps in the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

  • Slovenia submits fourth payment request for funds from the Recovery and Resilience Facility

    The Republic of Slovenia's Recovery and Resilience Office has submitted its fourth payment request to the European Commission (EC) for funds from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), with a total gross value of EUR 502 million.

  • Council of the EU approves third amendment to Slovenia's Recovery and Resilience Plan

    The Council of the European Union, composed of finance ministers, has today approved the third amendment to Slovenia's Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP). Under the revised plan, Slovenia will have access to EUR 2.23 billion from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), comprising EUR 613.25 million in loans (down from the previous EUR 1.07 billion), and an unchanged EUR 1.61 billion in grants.

    Today, the Government took note of the Information on the Implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), which will be submitted to the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia. The Government also discussed the Report on the Implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan before submitting the fourth payment request.

  • Minister Asta Vrečko opens renovated Štanjel Castle and the Museum of Slovenian Language and Books

    Yesterday, Minister of Culture Asta Vrečko officially opened Štanjel Castle, which has been completely renovated after many decades. The Ministry of Culture has allocated EUR 2.3 million for the final phase of the renovation.

  • Foundation stone laid for the new Clinic for Infectious Diseases and Febrile Conditions in Ljubljana

    Today, Minister of Health Valentina Prevolnik Rupel, Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia Robert Golob, Jerneja Jug Jerše, Head of the European Commission Representation in Slovenia, and Marko Jug, Director General of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana, symbolically laid the foundation stone for the new building of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases and Febrile Conditions at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana.

  • Completion of the upgrade of the Borovnica railway station and part of the section between Brezovica and Borovnica

    Yesterday, a ceremony was held in Borovnica to mark the completion of work on the Borovnica railway station, where Minister of Infrastructure Alenka Bratušek also addressed those gathered. The project, worth almost EUR 112 million, is part of record investments in the development of transport infrastructure in Slovenia during this term of office.

  • European Commission welcomes the third amendment of the Slovenian Recovery and Resilience Plan

    The European Commission today welcomed the third proposal to amend of the Slovenian Recovery and Resilience Plan. The amendment to the plan also needs to be approved by the Council of the European Union.

  • Government approves pension reform proposal

    The Government adopted the text of the proposed Act Amending the Pension and Disability Insurance Act. Amendments are necessary primarily to adapt the system to the ageing population, while the reform is also part of commitments under the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

  • Foundation stone unveiled for Arnes data centre

    Construction has begun in Maribor on Arnes' data centre, which will also house a supercomputer for the artificial intelligence factory. This will be the biggest data centre in Slovenia. The foundation stone was unveiled by Prime Minister Robert Golob, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation Igor Papič and Director of the Academic and Research Network of Slovenia (Arnes) Marko Bonač.

  • National Assembly adopts the revised Civil Servants Act

    At today's extraordinary session, members of parliament approved the proposal of the new Civil Servants Act (ZJU-1). The Act focuses on enhancing the competence and independence of public employees while increasing flexibility in human resource management within public administration. The most important new development is the establishment of the Human Resources Centre.

  • Government approves proposal for third Recovery and Resilience Plan amendment

    Today, the Government approved a proposal for the third amendment to the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), which the Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Recovery and Resilience will submit, together with all supporting documents, to Brussels for formal consideration. The Government will also submit the proposal to the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia for information.

  • Amendments to the Health Services Act adopted, strengthening public health institutions

    The National Assembly adopted the Act Amending the Health Services Act (ZZDej-N). It is one of the fundamental healthcare acts, as it regulates health services as a whole, public health services, health service providers, healthcare workers and co-workers and other key issues related to the provision of health services.

  • Nova Gorica gets a modern railway station and a new underpass

    Today, a symbolic event marked the completion of the upgrade of the Nova Gorica railway station, which began in December 2023 and marks an important step towards improving rail transport in that region. The upgrade provided the station with more robust infrastructure with more features, improved safety, and a better user experience for passengers.
