In cooperation with the European Commission, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs hosted a meeting of the EU Ministries of Foreign Affairs Science Diplomacy and Advice Network (EMFASDAN). Representatives from EU Member States, the European Commission, UNESCO and other partners discussed the further development of science diplomacy, exchanging national experiences and best practices.

The 11th Mediterranean Coast and Macro-Regional Strategies Week, which took place in Izola between 15 and 17 September 2026, brought together nearly 200 representatives from 17 European countries. Prime Minister Janez Janša attended the official opening of the 58th International Trade and Business Fair (MOS) in Celje today. Today, 16 September 2026, Minister of Local Self-Government, Cohesion and Regional Development Dr Monika Kirbiš Rojs and Mayor of the Municipality of Ajdovščina Tadej Beočanin signed an agreement on the free-of-charge transfer of land for the construction of a new healthcare centre, as well as an agreement on the free-of-charge transfer of the Residential Care Home to the Municipality of Ajdovščina.

Acting Director-General for International Law and Multilateral Affairs Anita Pipan presented Slovenia's priorities for the 81st session of the UN General Assembly and the Slovenian delegation to the diplomatic corps.

We are marking the International Day of Science, Technology and Innovation for the South to emphasise the importance of knowledge, scientific and technological progress and innovation for the sustainable development of the countries in the Global South. This year’s event focuses on the successful examples of cooperation in the fields of environmental protection, climate change, sustainable mobility, and innovation. State Secretary Rok Šimenc also attended the event.

The Minister for Local Self-Government, Cohesion and Regional Development Dr Monika Kirbiš Rojs attended an informal meeting of EU Ministers responsible for cohesion policy that was hosted in Dublin by the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The ministers discussed the future direction of EU cohesion policy, its role in strengthening Europe’s competitiveness and the future system of implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

The implementation of the measures and projects under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), supported by the European Union through the Recovery and Resilience Facility – NextGenerationEU, has been completed. We present measures to promote the use of renewable energy sources.
