Transfer of real estate opens the way for projects to improve quality of life in Ajdovščina

The transfer of state-owned land covering 2,828.545 m², with a market value of €2.53 million, will enable the construction of a healthcare complex. Covering approximately 15,000 m², the complex will bring together a new primary healthcare centre with 15 family medicine clinics, four paediatric clinics and 11 dental clinics, as well as several specialist clinics, a pharmacy, a satellite emergency centre and an underground car park with at least 175 parking spaces.

The project will also establish a third base for helicopter emergency medical services next to the healthcare centre, covering western Slovenia. The project is important for the municipality and the region and meets the commitment set out in the coalition agreement to expand the network of helicopter emergency medical service bases, which currently operates from two airport bases, in Maribor and Brnik. “We know that the current arrangement causes unacceptable gaps in response and access times between individual regions. Together with the Ministry of Health, we are trying to find solutions to support the project within the available resources,” said Minister Dr Monika Kirbiš Rojs.

The project is estimated at €32 million and will be implemented by the municipality with a €20 million donation from Ivo and Taja Boscarol.

Mayor of the Municipality of Ajdovščina Tadej Beočanin described the transfer of the property as an important step in implementing the largest healthcare project in Ajdovščina. “The free-of-charge transfer of the land fulfils the final condition for obtaining a building permit for the new healthcare centre and ensuring its successful implementation. This is a major asset for Ajdovščina and the wider area, one that we as a community will be proud of.”

Transferring the former Residential Care Home building will enable the Municipality of Ajdovščina to establish several interconnected social care programmes for older people and persons with intellectual disabilities. “By complementing the renovation with new programmes and services, you are enabling higher-quality care and support for older and frail residents and persons with intellectual disabilities,” Dr Kirbiš Rojs underlined.

For social care, support services and accommodation of at least 36 residents, the Municipality of Ajdovščina will renovate approximately 700 m² of business premises, refurbish the heating and ventilation systems, and improve the exterior of the building and its surroundings. The estimated value of the transferred real estate stands at €1.35 million.

“I would like to thank everyone who has worked persistently on preparing this procedure. Together, we are demonstrating that good cooperation between the state and local communities brings tangible benefits to residents,” the Minister concluded.

Mayor Tadej Beočanin and Minister Dr Monika Kirbiš Rojs also discussed projects that bring the municipality and the ministry together. They touched upon the renovation of Lična hiša, which will become a centre for new cultural and social activities; completed investments in the Ajdovščina and Gojače business zones, which directly strengthen entrepreneurship in the local community; and projects under the Agreement for the Development of the Region, including the development of the Kresnice playground, the upgrading of the central wastewater treatment plant, and the development of green areas and the cemetery.
