State Secretary Dr Raščan at the Manama Dialogue on the importance of regional stability and security

State Secretary Dr Stanislav Raščan took part in the 22nd IISS Manama Dialogue in Bahrain, where he outlined Slovenia’s position on current international issues, calling for stronger political dialogue and cooperation with partners in the Gulf region.

The conference brought together representatives of countries and international organisations, as well as experts in international relations and security. Key topics included the situation in the Middle East, regional stability, international cooperation and diplomatic efforts to prevent and resolve conflicts.

“Slovenia calls for de-escalation of the situation and the prevention of further heightened tensions in the Middle East, emphasising the importance of inclusive regional dialogue to achieve sustainable and lasting peace. In this context, Slovenia highlights the importance of respecting international law, including the guarantee of freedom of navigation, and emphasises the role of multilateralism and effective international cooperation in finding common responses to regional and global challenges,” said State Secretary Dr Raščan.

On the margins of the conference, the State Secretary held bilateral meetings with Khalifa bin Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates; Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director-General of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain; and Outi Holopainen, Under-Secretary at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. During these meetings, he discussed current foreign policy issues and opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation. He also met with Jonathan Bass, Chairman and CEO of Argent LNG, to discuss opportunities to expand cooperation in the liquefied natural gas sector in south-eastern Europe.
