Ministers Tone Kajzer and Barrot discuss closer economic ties between Slovenia and France

The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in the political, economic, defence and European spheres, and exchanged views on key regional and international developments. Particular attention was devoted to further strengthening economic cooperation between their two countries. They agreed that successful economic partnerships and high levels of trade provide a solid foundation for deepening relations, particularly in the fields of energy, nuclear energy, transport, logistics and the defence industry.
Minister Kajzer underlined Slovenia’s interest in further strengthening cooperation on technological development and innovation. He also highlighted the importance of improving transport links between the two countries, both by air and by sea. He also expressed the hope for increased presence of French companies in Slovenia, inviting them to participate in the International Defence Exhibition in Celje.
The ministers also discussed the future of the European Union, the multiannual financial framework, measures to strengthen European competitiveness, and the EU’s enlargement policy. They focused on the situation in the Western Balkans and on the importance of further stabilising the region.
Ministers Kajzer and Barrot also discussed the situation in the Middle East and other current foreign policy issues, agreeing to continue close bilateral cooperation and coordinate their positions within the European Union.
Minister Kajzer invited his French counterpart to visit Slovenia.
