Minister Kajzer thanked Ms Fajon for her work despite some differences of opinion between them, and wished her every success in her future professional and personal endeavours.

Upon assuming office, Minister Kajzer emphasised that under his leadership, Slovenian foreign policy will be proactive, pragmatic and credible. It will also focus on advancing the country’s fundamental interests: security, stability and the well-being of its citizens. He listed the following key priorities: strengthening Slovenia’s role in the EU and NATO; further developing economic diplomacy; supporting EU enlargement, particularly to include the countries of the Western Balkans; strengthening relations with neighbouring countries and partners in Central Europe; and promoting strategic dialogue with the United States.

“Foreign policy, especially in smaller countries, must be based on continuity and always take into consideration national interests, which are our top priority, as well as generating tangible benefits for our citizens and the Slovenian economy,” said Minister Kajzer.

Ms Fajon wished the new minister every success in his work amid the current challenging geopolitical conditions. She also expressed her belief that Slovenia will remain an active, successful and respected member of the international community.
