27 March, World Theatre Day
At the initiative of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), established in 1948 on the proposal of UNESCO and theatre and dance experts, 27 March has been celebrated as World Theatre Day since 1962.

On World Theatre Day, the Week of Slovenian Drama also begins, during which Slovenian theatres compete for the Slavko Grum Award and the Zofka Kveder Award.
