Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs summoned the Iranian Ambassador

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs summoned the Iranian Ambassador on 3 March 2026, regarding Iranian attacks on Gulf states and Cyprus, and the destabilization of the wider Middle East region.

Slovenia warned that any further escalation of the conflict contravenes the UN Charter and the principles of international law. Slovenia also underscored the imperative of respecting international humanitarian law and the protection of critical infrastructure. Furthermore, Slovenia emphasized its ongoing concern regarding new reports of violations of fundamental freedoms in Iran and reiterated its call for Iran to respect human rights.

Slovenia called upon Iran to immediately cease its aggressive actions and end its support for Iranian-affiliated actors, including Hezbollah. It further highlighted the necessity for Iran's full and transparent cooperation with the IAEA regarding the Iranian nuclear programme and urged a return to the negotiating table.
