In his address to those present, the Prime Minister emphasised that, through investments in artificial intelligence, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia is contributing to enhanced competitiveness and strengthening Slovenia’s technological excellence.

»We must create the conditions for harnessing the knowledge of experts and transferring it into the economy. I see this as one of the key advantages of the new supercomputer and the artificial intelligence factory. For this very reason, the new supercomputer will not be intended solely for scientists, but will also be accessible to others, with industry and the economy in the foreground,« the Prime Minister stressed. The Government is also considering access for citizens, which would enable the establishment of a national generative artificial intelligence platform hosted within SLAIF.

The SLAIF project is co-financed by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and the European Commission, namely the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU). With the new supercomputer, the current EuroHPC Vega system will be replaced by 2027. At the same time, Slovenia will continue to have uninterrupted access to top-tier infrastructure for high-performance supercomputing and large-scale data storage.
