Slovenia joins Emergency Coalition for the Financial Sustainability of the Palestinian Authority

The Coalition was formed in response to the severe financial and institutional crisis that the Palestinian Authority was facing. In addition to the consequences of the conflict in Gaza and the escalation of violence in the West Bank, budget revenues have fallen significantly as a result of Israeli measures. The immediate goal is to stabilise the Palestinian Authority’s finances, preserving its ability to govern, provide basic services and maintain security. This is crucial for maintaining regional stability and preserving the two-state solution.
"Our participation in the Coalition forms part of a pivotal collaborative effort to strengthen the Palestinian Authority at this critical moment. This demonstrates the international community's commitment to safeguarding the two-state solution. By joining this initiative, Slovenia is demonstrating its readiness to work with partners to uphold international law, strengthen Palestinian institutions and promote a just and lasting peace," Minister Fajon explained yesterday at the Global Alliance meeting.
The Coalition intends to provide the Palestinian Authority with USD 200 million per month for the next six months. However, Coalition members emphasise that short-term assistance alone is insufficient. The Coalition will therefore promote a sustainable, predictable and coordinated approach. This will involve working with international financial institutions and key partners to mobilise resources, support ongoing governance and economic reforms, and guarantee full transparency and accountability. Slovenia will allocate its contribution via a special EU mechanism designed to support the Palestinian Authority in providing basic social services.
