EU funding for the Centres for the Prevention and Treatment of Drug Addiction

The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the call for proposals Development and enhancement of the Centres for the Prevention and Treatment of Drug Addiction.

The aim of the call for proposals is to strengthen and further develop the network of Centres for the Prevention and Treatment of Drug Addiction, and to support the development of new services as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Health to address the developments in the field of drug (ab)use and respond to the needs of users of illicit drugs, with an emphasis on most vulnerable groups. Support will be provided for a number of projects in thematic areas Specialised support services for young people, Social rehabilitation and reintegration, Prevention, and Mobile clinics for addiction treatment.

The call for proposals Development and enhancement of Centres for the Prevention and Treatment of Drug Addiction will be implemented as part of Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027 under priority Long-term care and health, and social inclusion. It will pursue specific objective Enhancing the equal and timely access to quality, sustainable and affordable services, including services that promote the access to housing and person-centred care including healthcare; modernising social protection systems, including promoting access to social protection, with a particular focus on children and disadvantaged groups; improving accessibility including for persons with disabilities, effectiveness and resilience of healthcare systems and long-term care services.

The call will come with a budget of €2,441,000.01; it will receive over €1.5 million, more specifically, €1,511,558.34, from the European Social Fund Plus.

The Ministry of Health will publish the call for proposals in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia on 19 September 2025.
