Prime Minister Golob: "This is one of the largest projects of this Government and our duty to society"
Prime Minister Golob thanked all the participants for attending the meeting and highlighted the importance of the long-term care project. "This is one of the largest projects of this Government and our duty to society, which we are obliged to fulfil. The project involves municipalities, social work centres, homes for the elderly and the healthcare system," said the Prime Minister on the complexity of the project, which requires a lot of coordination and cooperation among the stakeholders.
"The purpose of this meeting is to get an overview of the situation in terms of coordination among the stakeholders. It is not an expression of mistrust of the Minister of a Solidarity-Based Future, Simon Maljevac. The minister and I planned this meeting some time ago," stressed the Prime Minister.
He said that he was monitoring the first steps made in the long-term care project and that the purpose of the meeting was to get a comprehensive overview of its implementation. He thanked all the participants for their contribution to a constructive discussion.
In his statement to the media after the meeting, Prime Minister Golob reiterated that long-term care is one of this Government's largest projects. "This is our duty to society, to our parents and grandparents. Today we had a very frank discussion with all stakeholders responsible for the preparation and subsequent implementation of long-term care," he said, adding that they discussed all weak points identified to date. "There was only one conclusion: we must not and will not stop. The project must go on according to the planned timeline," said the Prime Minister. He explained that the project is extensive and that progress is faster in some regions than others but that they are all resolved to complete this project.
"This meeting was the first but certainly not the last. In one month we will meet again to assess the progress made. Until then, work will be done by groups. Each group will be responsible for one area, so that the challenges are dealt with in a targeted manner," concluded Prime Minister Golob.
