The two countries share a mutual interest in enhancing bilateral and economic cooperation. During President Mirziyoyev's visit to Slovenia in May 2025, ten business agreements were signed between Slovenian and Uzbek companies. It was also agreed that the first joint commission for economic cooperation would be convened in the autumn of this year, co-chaired by Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon and the Uzbek Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, Laziz Kudratov.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying political dialogue, expanding economic cooperation and continuing to implement agreements in the field of labour migration. The two interlocutors also exchanged views on current regional and international developments, including the war in Ukraine, the situation in Afghanistan and relations with China and the Russian Federation. Particular attention was devoted to cooperation within the EU-Central Asia framework and relations between the EU and Uzbekistan, as well as collaboration in multilateral forums, including the United Nations and the Security Council.

State Secretary Dr Melita Gabrič underlined Slovenia's readiness to strengthen its diplomatic presence in Central Asia and highlighted the importance of cooperation in ensuring peace, security and development in the region.
