The EU-supported project involves the establishment of the EPIC exhibition and interpretation centre, which will serve as a physical and virtual space for exhibitions, creativity, intercultural dialogue, education, and community integration. The outdoor areas are also being landscaped, contributing to the revitalisation of the urban border area and improving its functionality, safety, and quality of life for the residents of both Nova Gorica and Gorica.

The project is one of the key venues for implementing the European Capital of Culture (ECOC) GO!2025 programme, as EPIC is identified as one of the central projects in the ECOC application book. The project involves renovating a total of 3,259 m² of space, which has been underutilised until now. With the project, the area will be used for new purposes and will gain a public function.

By establishing the EPIC centre, the Municipality of Nova Gorica is strengthening its cultural infrastructure, which will not only serve to implement the ECC GO!2025 programme but also contribute to the long-term development of the local and cross-border cultural community and the city’s life.

The project is defined as a strategic project under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027. The project, worth €6,378,685.41, will receive a European Regional Development Fund contribution of €2,513,461.91.
