EU funding for the expansion of district heating and cooling systems using renewable energy sources
The call for proposals aims to increase the production of electricity and heat from renewable sources and waste heat in the territory of the Republic of Slovenia. The key objectives are:
- increase the share of RES in existing district heating systems,
- build new or expand existing district heating systems powered by RES,
- reduce the use of fossil fuels, including natural gas.
The call for proposals makes an important contribution to realising the specific objective Promoting renewable energy under the priority Green transformation for climate neutrality. It also supports the objectives of the Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources.
The call for proposals with a total value of €51,238,602.35 will receive a contribution of €43,552,812.01 from the Cohesion Fund.
The call for proposals is expected to be published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia on Friday, 18 July 2025.
