Minister Asta Vrečko opens renovated Štanjel Castle and the Museum of Slovenian Language and Books
As part of the Štanjel Castle renovation project, which was co-financed by the Ministry of Culture with the help of EU funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan and the Municipality of Komen, Slovenia got its first museum of the Slovenian language and books. In addition to the museum, modern facilities for conferences and start-up companies in the fields of culture and tourism (the Štanjel Cultural Incubator) as well as a new wedding hall have been opened in Štanjel Castle. The office space, auxiliary storage rooms and castle courtyard were renovated, the viewing platform in the museum and sanitary facilities were refurbished, and energy-efficient renovation of the Lojze Spacal Gallery was carried out.
Funds for the complete renovation of Štanjel Castle were contributed by the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Komen. The Ministry of Culture provided EUR 1,659,996.04 through the Recovery and Resilience Plan, the Municipality of Komen provided EUR 636,859.86, and the total value of the project was EUR 2,296,855.90.
