State Secretary Štucin holds political consultations with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic

Today, State Secretary Marko Štucin hosted the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Eduard Hulicius, in Strunjan. In addition to bilateral relations, they focused on topical European and international issues. Slovenia and the Czech Republic enjoy friendly relations and, as like-minded countries on many issues, they have well-established political cooperation.

They discussed opportunities for further strengthening economic cooperation, particularly in the automotive industry, cooperation with the Port of Koper and closer integration of the logistics sector.

State Secretary Štucin advocated speeding up the EU enlargement process. For Slovenia, enlargement is both a geopolitical necessity and an opportunity to promote lasting peace and stability in the EU neighbourhood.

In this context, he stressed the importance of maintaining strong EU engagement and a credible enlargement policy with the countries of the Western Balkans and the Association Trio.

Among other topical issues, they discussed migration, the competitiveness of the European Union and the EU's Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF). They also touched on security and defence issues, where Slovenia is committed to strengthening the security and defence of the European Union and its overall resilience, with NATO remaining the cornerstone of collective defence in Europe.
