€13 million in EU funding for central operating theatre and intensive care unit

The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the project Construction of the central operating theatre and intensive care unit at the Ptuj General Hospital.

As part of the EU-funded project, the Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Monitoring, Quality and Investments in Healthcare will renovate the central operating theatre of the Ptuj General Hospital’s emergency centre. The project will also result in the reconstruction of the first floor of the surgical wing, the renovation of the central sterilisation area in the basement of the emergency centre, and the modernisation of the equipment. The investment will help provide adequate conditions for the timely and safe provision of healthcare services, better quality specialist medical treatment in line with modern standards, and improved patient care.

The project Construction of the central operating theatre and intensive care unit at the Ptuj General Hospital is part of Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027. The project will be implemented under priority Long-term care and health, and social inclusion and will pursue specific objective Ensuring equal access to healthcare and fostering resilience of health systems, including primary care, and promoting the transition from institutional to family-and-community-based care.

The project, worth €15,480,592, will receive approximately €13 million, i.e. €13,092,550, from the European Regional Development Fund.
