Over €5 million in EU funding for early career researchers
The call for proposals will co-finance the eligible costs of independent research conducted by newly recruited full-time researchers at public research organisations. Only projects that fall within one of the priority areas of Slovenia’s Sustainable Smart Specialisation Strategy (S5) are eligible for co-funding. These areas include Smart Cities and Communities, ICT Horizontal Network (GoDigital), Smart Buildings and Homes, including the Wood Chain, Networks for the Transition to a Circular Economy, Sustainable Food Production, Sustainable Tourism, Factories of the Future, Health - Medicine, Mobility, and Materials as End Products. The call for proposals promotes integration and collaboration between public research organisations and industry, and consequently stimulates increased private sector investment in research, development and innovation.
The call for proposals is part of Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027. The call for proposals will be implemented under the priority Innovative knowledge-based society and will pursue the specific objective Developing and enhancing research and innovation capacities and the uptake of advanced technologies.
The call for proposals will allocate a total of €10 million, with €5.35 million sourced from the European Regional Development Fund.
The Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency will publish the call for proposals, which contributes to meeting the goals set under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027, in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia on 6 June 2025.
