EU funding for dementia centres
As part of the call for proposals, three community-based care centres for people with dementia and other forms of cognitive impairment will be established in cohesion region Vzhodna Slovenija. The dementia centres will deliver support services and help programmes for people diagnosed with dementia and their relatives or caregivers. According to dementia experts and researchers, these programmes make up an efficient non-pharmacological intervention for improving the quality of life of people affected by dementia. The dementia centres will help both people with dementia and family members caring for them by catering to the needs and abilities of people with dementia while providing support and relief from caregiving for primary caregivers, allowing them to better juggle work and personal life.
The Call for proposals for co-financing the establishment of community-based centres for people with dementia and other forms of cognitive impairment will be carried out under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027 in the scope of priority Long-term care and health, and social inclusion. It will pursue specific objective Promoting the socio-economic inclusion of marginalised communities, low-income households and disadvantaged groups including people with special needs, through integrated actions including housing and social services.
The call will make a total of €3,474,000 available; most of the funding, i.e. €2,952,050, will come from the European Regional Development Fund.
The Ministry of Solidarity-Based Future will publish the call in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia on 6 June 2025.
